Over a year ago it became necessary to add unlimited texting to our cellular plan.
That or be plagued with gazillion dollar cell phone bills each month.
Thankyouverymuchchildren.
I chose unlimited.
My husband swore he would never use it.
Swore.
Never.
Why would he type out what he wanted to say instead of just picking up the phone and saying it?
After realizing what a time saver and convenience it was, he became an avid texter.
And we couldn’t be more proud.
Or confused.
Case in point…this was our text conversation a few nights ago:
Me: Need u to pick up Claire from dnce. Txt me when u leave wrk.
Husband: K
*30 mins later*
Me: Where r u?
Husband: ch
Me: Huh?
What the?
ch?
church? chewing? choking?
I have no idea.
The Husband walked in the back door and I look at him still perplexed as to what “ch” meant.
I had to know.
So I asked.
He laughed.
“Oh Wendi…don’t you know anything?”
“Coming Home!”
But of course.
Why didn’t I think of that?
And yes…just like that he invented his own text language.
I am checking into taking him off our plan.
Clearly he is not ready.

Or at the least, he needs a cheat sheet of text speak...
How funny. My hubby has not started texting yet but I finally did just 3 weeks ago.... I thought I was a hip grammy now but I found out not so Saturday. I took a class on Social networking and found out there is a 53 page dictionary of texting short hand.... and all I wanted to do was tell my kiddos I luv U.

I'm pretty content with my husband being a bit behind in the whole tech craze thing. I hope he never discovers the joy of texting! He's enough of a bear to speak to on the phone, lol.
I remember when my husband first learned to text. It was on my old flip phone and it took him about 10 minutes to respond to my mother that we were about an hour driving distance from her house!
The next step was a phone with a keyboard and his own phone number. Then we moved on to the Internet phone. And I must say he's pretty good but neither him nor I have moved into the world of "text speak". We still have novel long text messages back and forth at times!
It was just too funny coming across your blog and reading about your husband's text messaging adventures! Haha...
Wendi where are you???? I miss you. I miss your wit and humor... I just miss you. I hope you will make it back to blog land soon.
The 25th of March John and I were in a terrible accident on the freeway and almost killed. It was a miracle we survived. After 6 weeks in the hospital with 16 broken bones I just got home. God has truly blessed us.
