NO "OUTDOORSY" VACATIONS FOR ME!!!

Last week I told you that Chase was going to Boy Scout Camp.

He did.

I asked him how he liked it.

Two words.

"It sucked."

Now Chase, I am sure you had fun with the guys.

"Yes."

I am sure you had fun in the woods.

"No."

I am sure it was fabulous not to have me nagging you every day.

"Yes."

I am sure you enjoyed sleeping in a tent under the stars.

"No."

What was your favorite part of the experience?

"The part where I got to come home three times for baseball practice.

I got to play ball.

I got a good, hot meal.

I got a shower.

I had air conditioning."

"Well, there must have been something that was fun or exciting... what was that?"

Silence.

The best part of this conversation was that I realized Chase will not be asking to go camping in the woods for our vacation.

That makes me a happy mama!!!

A boy after my own heart! I think I told you - to me, camping is a hotel without room service!!! Glad your boy is home and you are in no danger of any future camping trips!

Smart kid! Horror stories from my childhood include family and girl scout campouts.
Worst times of my life!!!!

Glad to hear that you are now in charge of picking family vacations.

I so am not a camper either!

Woohooo, wonder how I can get my kids to hate camping??? Sending them to boy scout camp in NC?

Cute post!

You'll have to give me the contact info for that boy scouts camp. If it'll put my kids off camping in the woods for life I am more than happy to pop them on a plane in a couple of years to avoid a lifetime of camping requests.

I feel like I'm camping when I have to stay at the Comfort Inn instead of the Hampton!

No camping for me!

My idea of camping is at a 2 star hotel.

This is Chad's son??? Am I missing something here? Seems you and I have amazing sons who are a BLEND of mom & dad instead of a chip off the old "outdoorsy" block! Their wives will be most grateful one day for the influence we women have had in their formative years!

I'm with you and Chase on the "back to nature" deals. Give me a beach chair and a good book and I'm in perfect harmony with the great out-of-doors.

we love to camp in our family... guess i'm the odd reader out here. I wonder if he'd like it if they were doing some of that fun rafting and other things they show scouts doing in that "boys life" magazine... You know advertising :)

Lucky!!! We go camping every year. My kids love it and we have all kinds of memories. But, I'd be just as happy in a nice hotel room with a big bathtub and flushing toilets. Ü

We grew up camping. But if I am going camping now, it must be in a travel trailer...no tent for me!! My husband thinks it is ridiculous that my idea of a vacation is anywhere there is a pool, the beach (but I only like looking at the beach-not playing on it!), and the sun. We have a pool and the sun at home!!

I wen to girl scout camp and I loved it as a child however I was very happy to have home cooked food and a working toilet when I got home :)

Our favorite is what you would call "car camping". Meaning we drive up, put up the tent, cook some food, roast our marshmellows, sleep for the night and take off in the morning. That way we don't have to skip a shower for the day!

We are headed to MB and I'm so excited! I think our plans are to lay on the beach and collect as much sun and relaxation as possible! smile If we happen to break away for a bit- what's your favorite thing to do there? (other than veg-out?:)

Yeah, my kids prefer 4-5 star hotels to camping. Probably raised them wrong, but it suits me just fine!

I can't blame him. We've done the tent camping thing once and that was one time too many for me.
