I was riding home from an afternoon of blueberry picking with the kids.
I spotted an old run down gas station.
Called Ma's.
They are quite famous for their hot dogs.
I pulled in with the thoughts of greasy pork products swirling around my head.
Then I saw this.
My thoughts went from grease to GAS!
The memories of $.79 per gallon gas were not so far back.
Was it?
Could it be?
Dare I try?
And then I saw this.
Oh well, it was a nice dream.
I just settled for the greasy hotdogs with extra chili.

Man, wouldn't that be nice. Hope your vacation is going well..
That would have been perfect!
Britt told me about it :-)
Plus the greasy hotdogs with extra chili sounds better!
We have a little "General Store" in our neighborhood and they can't even sell gas anymore because their pumps won't go that high on the prices.
That's pitiful.
I remember when I could fill my tank for ten bucks...such a distant memory now. :( Hope you enjoyed your hot dog at least!
I think I would have about croaked with .79 gas. The lowest I remember is in college for .99.
But hey the hotdog doesn't sound too bad either! :)
Hope you are still enjoying the beach and know that you are missed!
oh we can dream can't we friend :)
but seriously yum-o on the gas station greasy hot dogs!!
Yum chili...makes me want a frito pie!
And, I remember $0.79! What happened?
A girl can dream, right?
If only we'd known, I would've dug a hole under my house for a holding tank and bought a ton of 79 cent gas. Those were the days.
oh, man...I was ready to drive to NC to get gas..... oh well
I remember well when gas used to be .79
Heck.... I remember in the old days when I first started driving in 1960 gas was .29 on sale.... .39 regular price and we got green stamps and mugs to boot.... and a boy filled the pump for me, checked my oil and washed the windows.....this is one case where I really can say I miss the good old days.
Gas in England is two and a half times more expensive, at almost 10 bucks a gallon. So I think gas prices here are pretty good, by comparison.
Please tell me you are ok, after eating those hot dogs. Now I have visions of hot dogs swirling too (and not in a good way.)
Enjoy your vacation.
That would have been a dream come true, right? I miss those days...I truly miss them!
How GLORIOUS that would have been!
I can actually remember a time just after I graduated from college when the local full-serve station had gas for .99 a gallon. And how I took it for granted!
We saw $3.65 today and were saying what a deal it was!
Glad at least the dogs were yummy!
You always make me laugh..."thoughts of greasy pork products swirling around my head"...I can tell you and I would have fantastic lunch dates if we lived in the same town. Mmmmmmmm hot dogs...
don't I wish...
I'd just be happy to fill my tank once a week for under a $100 bucks!!
have a hot dog for me too...
and i remember in h.s. the gas was in the vicinity of $0.95. isn't that crazy!!!
mmmmmmmmm. chili.
I long for cheap gasoline! In response to your comments - I WARNED YOU about Twilight! I am so glad you're addicted. Now I will have someone to go see the movie with in December! Also, I am totally up for seeing Mama Mia. I'm not sure what my schedule's going to be like the next little bit, but let me know when you're thinking about going.
It really WASN'T that long ago...oh those were the days!!!
I just saw Katie's comment....I want to see Mama Mia with you too!! I seriously laughed so hard I cried more than once.
There are times when I wish the guys in this house could display such a sign. Yah, that'd be nice...
I totally remember when gas was under a dollar... man, those were the days! sigh...
I always feel so old when I say "I remember when I could fill up my Jetta for $13!"
Gas was only 99 cents a gallon at the time. And it was NOT that long ago!
IF only!
