TIME WELL SPENT

This has been the week of "COLE".

My intentions were to spend lots of time doing special things with him.

School started for Chase and Claire and it was going to be just the two of us.

The week started off as planned.

Sort of.

I took Cole and a friend to the Splash Park only to discover that it was closed.

Nice.

So they spent the afternoon frolicking in my sprinkler.

Water is water...right?

Tuesday we went to the library for story time.

We spent some time on the computers and checked out books.

We rented a movie and I picked up one of Cole's cousins to watch it with him and play.

Wednesday was supposed to be a day at the park.

Thanks to the remnants of Tropical Storm Fay...that didn't happen.

Instead we played games on the computer, played a few board games, and raced cars and trucks all over the house.

All while keeping an eye to the sky because we were under tornado watches ALL DAY!

On the way back from picking up carpool I looked back at Cole and noticed he had dark circles under his eyes.

Later that night.... the fever came.

The next day it was headaches and throwing up.

So much for Cole's special week.

His special week turned into his sick week.

Poor fella.

Yesterday he was so miserable.

He couldn't get comfortable.

Watching the television or computer hurt his eyes.

And all he wanted was to be held and cuddled.

That is right friends...I held, rocked, cuddled, and doted on my baby.

He let me hold him to read books.

He requested we read in the rocking chair.

Be still my heart.

We even took a nap together.

I can't tell you the last time that happened.

I hate that he felt so bad.

I wish he had been well.

But the quality time I spent with him yesterday made the whole week for me.

Maybe the whole year.

So thanks for understanding and giving us that time.

I will be back next week in full blogger mode.

See you then.

What a sweet, sweet post.

I am so sorry he is sick. Poor little guy :(

I am glad it gave you some much needed cuddle time with him...I guess that is one good thing that came out of him being sick.

I hope he gets well soon!

Oh Wendi! Your poor little Cole. But, it sounds like all your planning couldn't have given you what you ultimately got. A true love, snugglefest with just Mommy and Cole. Awesome!!!

Hope he feeling better but the snuggling still remains.

I have to say that I have always felt that way as well. I hate it for my kids when they get sick, but I love being able to snuggle and cuddle because most of the time it's hard to get them to sit still. Hope he gets better for preschool next week. We'll be in k-town this wkd. Hope to see you guys!

Poor sweet baby Cole. So sorry to hear that he hasn't been feeling good.

Glad you were able to sneak in some Cole snuggle time, even if it was under those conditions.

Praying for him to feel better, and the rest of you not to get it!

It's so horrible when our children are sick. I'm praying for you all.

Awww, poor baby. I am sure he will remember how well you cared for him while he was sick. I bet it was helpful to have the other two in school so at least for that time you could really dote on him.

I'm sorry that Cole is sick but it sounds like you two shared some very special times together. So tender.... aren't you glad that you are a stay at home mom.

Is it terrible that I secretly like when my kids are sick (minus their suffering of course) because they're cuddly and loveable and docile. For a few hours it is like having baby them back.

Hope Cole is all better now and you get to enjoy your last couple of days.

It's terrible to actually enjoy the time that your children are sick right? Oh well, maybe that's another way Heavenly Father sneaks in blessings on us, it's a reminder of how much the kids love and need us! Glad you got to enjoy it. Too soon he'll be 18 and not wanting to be snuggled, but he'll still want mom's sympathy! :)

Not that I ever want my daughter to be sick, but when she is, I love it, because she gets all snugly. Bad times meet good times, lol.
