The Writing On The Wall

I sat down to the computer to draft a post.

I looked at the tablet beside me which contained a list of possible topics, unfinished memes, and things the kids have said this week.

None of the aforementioned items appealed to me.

I tried to type.

I deleted at least 3 short posts.

Not good.

Then I heard it.

The eerie silence.

I jumped up from the computer and turned the corner to see Cole with this in his hand.

Remember this?

Not funny. (though he thinks so!)

"What did you write on Cole?", I pleaded.

"Nuffing", he replied.

"Show me Cole. Show mommy what you drew on."

"NOW!", my voiced raised.

Then he produced his hands which he said he "Tattooed".

What do you think?

Is he destined for employment at LA INK?

Then I saw this on the furniture.

He decided his basketball needed a little autograph too.

I should have seen this coming.

I woke up to a chilly 48 degrees.

The high today will only be 60 degrees.

Yesterday was 70 degrees.

Tomorrow will be 78 degrees.

Today it is 60!

Which meant I had to flip the heat back on.

I was hoping that little switch would not be touched for another seven months.

Today it is overcast.

Today it is dreary.

I have black permanent ink in places I should not see black permanent ink.

I went online to do my banking.

I have $1500 less in the bank than my keeping-the-running-balance-in-my head said it should be.

After doing six loads of laundry yesterday, I still have three more.

I have not had a shower yet.

Cole has been screaming at me all morning that he wants to eat a bag of chocolate chips.

The whole 24oz. bag.

Not. going. to. happen.

Today I learned yet another important fact.

Never think you have NOTHING to write about.

If you wait, (oh, say about 30 seconds) something inevitably will happen.

Something that will probably be "Blog worthy".

Yep, I should have seen the writing on the wall.

First to leave a comment!! Yeah for me. I checked here just a few minutes ago and then I came back and there was a new one. I think you should hide the sharpies!!

Oh, that is too funny and scary all at the same time! I have to say I am also frightened of silence in our house as well. There is just no way they are actually playing together quietly doing something that is not causing distruction.

Maybe you are raising the next Monet?

Hope you get it off of everything you care about including Cole!

I definitely have a love/hate relationship with Sharpie markers.

Wendi, thanks for your suggestion about adding videos. It was so easy that I almost feel ashamed that I hadn't done it before!

Take this in the nicest way possible, okay? Even though you have Sharpie mess, this is the best post I've read in a while. It was perfectly simple and right on...

Sorry about your basket ball and furniture...but maybe he does have a future life in the inking biz!

I think every mother has a Sharpie story, and most of them do not have very happy endings. I have a love/hate relationship with them, myself. I love to use them. I hate for my child to ferret them out of their hiding place.

Thanks for stopping by and de-lurking. I'm off to read more of your blog. Have a great weekend.

I have a strict rule in my house (ha ha) that "Sharpies are for grown-ups only." So far, so good.

I just jinxed myself didn't I?

Definately BLOG worthy. LOL.

Lola had a modeling job last year where they asked her to draw on a wall. It was for a paint company. Go to Home Depot and check out the GLIDDEN paint section. Yup, that is Lola.

Well..... that picture in Home Deopt? She did that at our house too. LOL.

Ha ha ha! Your son reminds me of my daughter (only she uses my makeup, always the BLACK stuff, too)!

Just visiting from another blog! I really like your style and what you blog about so I'm adding you to my personal blogroll! Can't wait to see what else you've got going on!

Maybe Cole is gonna be a very talented writer/author like his mother. Let him know the proper place to begin blogging next time!

Too funny, Wendi. I too have a child that is very fond of markers. Never had a problem (well big problem anyway) until #3 came along. Julia kept writing all over my hardwoods....until finally Mommy got wise and put all the markers on the very top shelf in a kitchen cabinet. Of course, one always seems to find its way down...mysteriously....

BTW, I haven't forgotten about my homework. We just got back from a little trip and I will do it in the next few days.....
