CURB SIDE VOTING!!!

I have purposely avoided the topic of "politics" on my blog.
There are just too many opinions out there.
Mine being one of the biggest.
I really like my friends.
I really like my blog friends.
I would like to keep it that way.
Therefore, no politics will ever be discussed after this post.

Last Friday Claire had a friend over.
They were playing outside.
They were even including Cole.
I was able to clean the kitchen and prepare dinner without interruptions.
I was beyond excited.
I kept an eye on them through my kitchen window.
They were playing near the driveway.
Relay races. Sidewalk chalk. Silly jokes. Giggles. Bubbles.
They were having a grand time.
Cole was most excited to be one of the "girls".
I left the kitchen to take some freshly folded laundry to the bedrooms.
When I returned I heard laughter.
I heard loud laughter.
Was that screaming?
I looked out the window.
The kids were not in the driveway.
They were not in the side yard.
They were not in the backyard.
I could hear their voices.
It was not voices of please-help-me-I-am-bleeding-profusely-save-me-now.
It was happy voices, but loud.
Yes, it was happy, loud, screaming voices.
I ran out the back door.
I looked up and down the street.
No children.
I turned my head and gasped.
I found them.
They were standing on the curb in front of our neighbors house.
Each of them holding a sign.
They were waving them to and fro.
Screaming.
Vote for ------!
Vote for ------!
Vote for ------!
It was lovely. (please note the sarcasm)
A car honked his horn just as I reached them.
I screamed at politely asked them to get inside.
I then began my interrogation.
In my findings I discovered that:
A) The signs were stolen borrowed from several of our neighbors lawns.
B) The signs were political in nature.
C) Since I wouldn't let them have a Lemonade stand.... the next best thing was to hoop and holler at passers-by to vote for the neighbors choice of candidates.
Go figure.
I never knew I was raising such exuberant little politicians.
That...or bored kids who enjoyed screaming for someone they did not even know!

That was too cute!

I am just dying to know whose signs they were. Isn't NC coming up here pretty soon?

Maybe next time I would give the lemonade stand the green light. Just sayin' :-)

Oh, I love this. But were the political choices of your neighbors aligned with yours? And who, for goodness sake ... who? No secrets please. :)

Kristen and Jamie,
There are no secrets... it was only local government. County Commissioners and School Board wanna be's.
Apparently Hillary WAS in town this morning... I won't share my feelings...but I will tell you my clock was not set to get up and stand in line!

Screaming is fun, no matter what or for who! Well at least it is to someone under 10!

I'm totally laughing out loud at this!!

A few years ago one of our neighbors had a Vote YES on Measure X sign. The neighbors directly across the street weren't too thrilled so they put up 2 Vote NO on Measure X signs just to out-do the neighbor. I laughed every time I drove by!

Yeah for the no politics on blogs. I'd hate losing a friend over politics. I too try and avoid that topic since there isn't any good from debating sides. This is too cute though. Wish I had seen it for myself.

That is too funny! One more thing in common....I'm glad you didn't set your clock.
Have a great weekend!

This is too funny! Although, because Chad told me good, ole Hillary was in Kinston today, I was comletely envisioning Claire, friend, and Cole shaking hands with the former first lady herself before this story ended, lol.

Oooohhhh . . . some parents would have rather their kids be spray painting the side of houses or throwing rocks than doing anything political. Think of it this way, their getting involved in the process . . .

I hear you about politics . . . we are SATURATED right now, that is for sure!

Maybe Claire and friends could campain for better food in the school cafeteria just in case they "forget" about their new lunch room policy.

By the way, this sounds like something our Claire would do too.

Just thinkin'. Would love to hear Cole's rendition of Barack Obama. With his little speech sound substitutions that could be a whole other blog!

Quite funny and I bet they passers-by were entertained! {I don't think I would have found it funny if I had been the one making the discovery... but since it was you I'll just go ahead and ROLL ON THE FLOOR WITH LAUGHTER!}:) :D

That was GREAT! Embarrasing for you, but I LOVE how you wrote about it!

And you got dinner made, the kitchen cleaned and laundry put away? That is fantastic!

That is such a funny story!
I'll have to stop saying no to the lemonade stand request, or that may happen to me, too!

Congrats on your award!

There's a guy in Utah that would HIRE your kiddos to campaign for him.

The thing that makes me giggle most about this one is that your kids were laughing and shrieking so loudly that you could hear them from across the street...oh how I WISH I was that thrilled about things...let alone politics!
