Hanna is coming to visit!

I am busily preparing for the arrival of Hanna.

I am a southern girl.

We southern girls like to make our guests feel welcome.

We stock up on extra groceries, we clean the house, we put fresh sheets on the beds and we cook lavish meals.

This guest will not be treated any different.

I have been to the store.

I bought some essentials.

Like bread and canned goods.

I bought some "comfort foods".

Like Oreo's, chips, and sugary cereal.

I changed the sheets yesterday.

I am scrubbing the floors and cleaning bathrooms today.

And when all that is done...I plan to cook meals based on what is in my refrigerator and freezer.

Now some of you may be asking WHY?

I ask myself that question every time a storm comes.

My husband asks that question too.

He thinks I might be crazy.

I really don't have a good answer for you.

I refer to it as my "Storm Nesting Phase".

Prior to any tropical storm or hurricane I go into this nesting phase and clean.

Everything.

And Organize.

Everything.

And alphabetize everything.

I was just kidding about alphabetizing.

That my friends was already done.

So with bleach and Mr. Clean in hand I will be preparing for Hanna's arrival.

I promise to update you throughout the day.

Stay tuned for Phase 2!!!

You are too funny, Wendi.

If you want, you can swing by my house and clean for when we have visitors....of the human kind!

I would be all "well, just in case there is some damage, I can forgo the cleaning this week..heck, maybe this month."

Hope your nesting went well.

I thought this was just your daily routine and any southern girl who knows what hurricanes can do realizes that you have to cook the food in the freezer so that it doesn't spoil....hello!

Sure hope you don't lose your power - we know how you get without your internet.
Be Safe.

I hope Hanna is a reasonable guest and only makes a brief appearance. I also hope that she remembers that you have gone out of your way to prepare for her and the least she can do is leave the power lines intact.
Seriously...stay safe and enjoy all that yummy food you are going to cook up.

Since Hanna invited herself over I hope that she will be a considerate guest and not leave a mess when she leaves.

Let us all know how her visit is going. Good luck

Hey, any reason to clean like a mad woman is good enough for me! I'll be praying for you as Hanna arrives, may her stay be a gentle one.

Don't make her feel too welcome now...she may tell Ike how much she enjoyed her stay.

Don't ya just love hurricane season? Pat just went out and bought 12 gallons of water, batteries, canned soup...

I need you to come to some storm nesting at my house? And bring the oreos! :)

Oh I am hoping that Hanna gets a better idea and heads back out to sea. Seriously thought of you this morning as the Today show did their report!

Please stay away from Wendi, Please stay away from Wendi!

Happy nesting! :)

I totally get your "storm nesting urges". It makes perfect sense to me. Be safe.

Well it looks like Hanna is the thing to post about right now. Well if I run out of food, I know where to go. Better yet you could bring the food and organize over here. :)

Having just kicked Gustav to the curb...I know just what you are going through. Stay safe and take lots of pictures.

You are a hoot! Never quite thought of our huge "welcoming" of storms in this area, but so very true.

Love,

Snow

That is so funny... The most we get in the desert is the occasional monsoon wind storm, so the whole "prepare for a hurricane" thing - Totally out of my league! Even funnier that you have a "routine"!

Praying that you all stay safe!

Maybe you do this to keep from worrying about what the storm will bring?

Okay, you are a funny gal. And a polite one, too. I might just have to come visit.

When we have rain storms (which only happens once a year where I am), I love having my house nice and clean. There's just something about being able to snuggle down knowing there's nothing left for you to do. That if you have to stumble around in the greyness, at least you won't bump into anything. And there is nothing, NOTHING, like crawling into fresh sheets when it's storming outside. Kind of makes me wish for rain!
