Coming to you live from the eye of the storm...
Hanna is quickly approaching the east coast.
(what this really means is that the storm will arrive sometime in the middle of the night or early morning)
Eastern NC is under a Tropical Wind Warning.
(what this really means is you have been warned. There may a breeze.)
The rain bands have started to come on shore.
( What this really means is a few showers can be expected. Your patio furniture could get damp.)
I am so glad the meteorologists have weather gauges and fancy equipment to let them know about this storm and wind warning.
I am not doubting their expertise and knowledge of all things stormy.
They are after all the storm experts.
But hello....
I just walked outside and I don't feel a thing.
Except sticky and humid.
I kept squinting my eyes to see if I could see the trees sway.
I tilted my head to see if I could see a leaf blow.
Nothing.
It isn't even raining here right now.
I am not sure if this is a weather joke or if this is the calm before the storm.
I am thinking that the school may have over reacted by dismissing at 1:00pm today.
I am just saying.
I hope all my preparing and cleaning was not in vain.
Maybe by tomorrow morning I can at least use the word blustery.

Don't you hate this part of tropical weather......the waiting............the waiting.............the waiting........then the storm hits.......then waiting for the power to be restored.........the waiting......the waiting.......the waiting..........then power restored.........and waiting for the next storm.........waiting............waiting for the end of hurricane season.
It's just like that here- only with tornadoes. You know where every single thunderstorm will be- to the minute- in towns you've never even heard of. Hope Hanna bypasses you.
Sounds kinda like your guest may not show... Hope you didn't do all that preparation for nothin'!
(but I also hope it's not too bad!)
Blustery yet???
You are too funny.
Be sure to go out in the morning and have your coffee on your damp patio furniture. Then at least you will feel like you have experienced the storm.
Hi Wendi,
I have frequently been stalking your blog and love, love, love reading it. I am somewhat addicted to it.
I live on the ever so lovely Harkers Island and it is blowing just a little but nothing to write home about. Blustery, I think not! I think that the weather people just like to get out in the "storm" and wear their rain gear. Maybe, just maybe, they have some "issues". I'm just saying.....
Just thought that I would finally leave you a little note. Keep it comin'.
Hanna it seems does not want to visit Wendi.
Hope it continued to pass you by honey.
I hope Hanna is a disappointment. I don't want it to get blustery for you. But that's just me.
I just spoke to my mom in Rky Mt & she said it's just started raining hard & it'a a little windy.
Has the excitement picked up your way yet?
1:00 seriously? Better safe than sorry I guess.
We did lose electricity for a while this a.m. But thanks goodness for those good men (and women? as Lauren reminded me??) who brave the elements to restore that precious thing called "POWER". Am able to function once more. Bye Hanna, hope not Hello Ike.
Love,
Snow
It was definitely "blustery" here! But not too bad, could've been a lot worse. We never even lost power!! YEA!!! Hope all is well at your home!
I love the whole excitement and weathercaster combo - We have the most enthusiastic weather people here and its the desert - pretty much every day is the same - HOT, but oh boy when we get a storm...of even the minutest magnitude - Watch out... TV gets interrupted, they have the fancy "count the lightning strikes" machine. It is rather entertaining.
Continuing to pray for just a "baby Hanna" to visit you.
ok..so where are the pictures??? You carried that camera in for nothing!!I hope you guys faired through it alright...we did, we just have a very messy yard...cya tomorrow..
So, did you have any of the forecasted weather?
Hope you all are fairing well there. Never can be too comlacent about these things. It's always better to be safe than sorry, I always say. As for meteorologists...well let's just say that mother nature can be unpredictable. Yep, I am giving them the benefit of the doubt. That's me always looking for the good. Anyway, my thoughts are with you all.
Oh, hon, I hope she just breezes right past ya. No damage. Nothing.
I'll be so happy once November rolls around!
Dude. Stop it. You're just askin' for it with that kind of talk. ;)
(Really, school got out early?)
even if it was in vain... and hannah passes... it is done... that is the theory my folks in RI are going with...
how stressful!!!
the "waiting" for something to happen would almost be worse than the storm for me.
My boys would just be thinking...
Keep them storms-a-coming if thats what it takes to get out of school!
Hanna has been casting her cats and dogs here since last night - it has barely stopped!!!! And I (somehow), managed to sleep right on through it all!
Hope you're all safe and sound down there in NC!
I was very disappointed. I was hoping to encounter my first real hurricane. But, alas, it wasn't even much of a storm. I was ok with the early release on Friday though!
Hope you did not have to many limbs and leaves to pick up.
Luckily we were able to have our internet, though only after the electricity came back on.
Have a good weekend.
You are so funny...I always laugh at your cleverly written posts.."all things stormy" You are a riot ;)
Happy waiting and good luck.
If the rain gets too heavy send some our way.... we could use a little.
Err...but isn't that a GOOD thing you haven't felt anything? Just sayin'....
Safe thoughts your way!
WHAT?!?!?
YOU WENT OUTSIDE???
You are SUPPOSED to be HUNKERED DOWN!
Geez.
Well all I have to say is don't complain if your hair gets rained on. You WERE warned, you know.
p.s. How do your weather people look? In shape? New haircuts and highlights? Freshly whitened teeth?
Sounds like a no-show would be good in this case.
Hope everything is okay there!!!
uhm well since you "nested" and cleaned and hanna didn't come for a visit...how bout i come on over??
I am wondering if it was as humid there as it was there before the storm. Well actually here it wasn't much of a storm, but the humidity was BRUTAL! I was sweating just thinking about lugging camera bags around for the wedding that was suppose to take place on a beach before/during the storm. It was a crazy night. Now we just hang and wait for the next one or the end of hurricane season, whichever comes first.
